Critical Rule Difference
In Omaha, you must use exactly 2 of your 4 hole cards and exactly 3 community cards to make your final hand. This is different from Texas Hold'em where you can use any combination.
Basic Setup
Game Structure
- Players: 2-10 players (typically 6 or 9-max)
- Hole Cards: 4 private cards per player
- Community Cards: 5 shared cards (same as Hold'em)
- Betting Rounds: 4 rounds (pre-flop, flop, turn, river)
- Goal: Make best 5-card hand using exactly 2 hole + 3 community
Key Differences from Hold'em
- 4 hole cards instead of 2
- Must use exactly 2 hole cards
- Must use exactly 3 community cards
- More action: More drawing hands and big hands
- Higher variance: Bigger swings are normal

- • 2 hole + 3 community
- • Different 2 hole + 3 community
- • Always exactly 5 total cards
✗ Invalid Combinations
- • 1 hole + 4 community
- • 3 hole + 2 community
- • 4 hole + 1 community
- • 0 hole + 5 community
⚠ Common Error
Players often try to use all 4 hole cards or play the board. Remember: exactly 2, no exceptions!
