Omaha Hi/Lo: Omaha Hi/Lo Basics

Omaha Hi/Lo (also called Omaha Eight-or-Better) is a split-pot poker variant that combines the excitement of Omaha with low hand possibilities.

Key Rules:
• You receive 4 hole cards (like regular Omaha)
• Must use exactly 2 hole cards + 3 community cards
• Best high hand and best qualifying low hand split the pot
• Low hand must be "8 or better" (all cards 8 or lower)
• Aces are low for low hands (A-2-3-4-5 is the best low)
• Straights and flushes don't hurt low hands

The Split:
• High hand wins half the pot
• Qualifying low hand wins half the pot
• If no qualifying low, high hand wins entire pot (scoop)
• Same player can win both high and low (scoop)
