Starting hand selection is critical in Omaha Hi/Lo:
Premium Starting Hands:
• A-A-2-3 (double suited) - Excellent high/low potential
• A-2-3-4 (any suits) - Great low draw with straight potential
• A-A-2-X (suited ace) - Strong high hand with low backup
Playable Hands:
• Any A-2 combination - Low potential with high card strength
• A-3-4-5 or A-2-4-5 - Strong low draws
• High pairs (K-K, Q-Q, J-J) with low cards
Dangerous Hands (often fold):
• Middle cards (7-8-9-T) - Can't make low, mediocre high
• A-6-7-8 - Weak low draw, not strong enough
• K-Q-J-T - High-only hand in split pot game
Key Concept:
Look for hands that can "scoop" (win both high and low) or have strong potential in one direction.
